The three W's you need to know before starting your business

Are you looking to start your own business and don’t know where to start? Don’t worry, you are not alone! There is so much to think about when starting your own business and just like everyone else, you want to set yourself up for success from the start.

I know I had so many questions when I was beginning to think about the brand I wanted to create. From what would I call my business to what would my logo to look like, to how would I stand apart from my competition? I had so many questions!

If you are anything like me, you have a ton of questions too. Before you dive into the details, I want you to ask yourself what I call "The Three W's". I find these the most important questions, and once answered, can really put you on the right path to starting a successful business.

The Three W's:
1) WHAT product/service are you providing?
2) WHO are you selling to? (be specific!)
3) WHY are you selling your product service?

Figuring out the product/service you want to be providing is pretty straight forward. Who you are selling to is crucial! Write down what your ideal client would look like: gender, age, income, where they live, where they hang out, etc. This will help figure out your marketing strategy later down the road! Why are you selling your product is probably my most important question. You have to know WHY you are going to business. For me, I wanted to provide a level of service that allowed someone to have exactly what they wanted when it came to graphics and I wanted to give them a personal experience that you cannot find through an online shop. Every question will be answered differently for every business, because your brand has to be {you}nique!
